Credit Reporting

Your credit score is important. It plays a role in qualifying you for a home loan, car loan, or credit card, at the lowest rates, and even landlords look at your credit score and history to decide whether to rent to you.

For that reason, you want your credit history to be accurate and complete, and present the best summary of your financial history.

The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and similar state laws (e.g. California Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act, aka CCRAA) require that credit reporting agencies (e.g. Equifax, Experian, Innovis, and TransUnion) and creditors (e.g. home mortgage lenders, auto finance companies, credit card companies) report accurate and complete information about your credit history (including payment history, bankruptcy information, and your prior disputes).

For example, if you made credit card payments on time, but your credit card company reports you as late to credit reporting agencies, the reporting is not accurate.

If your creditor fails to accurately and completely report your credit history and you were negatively impacted by their reporting, you may be entitled to compensation, such as money lost due to a higher interest rate you incurred or loan you were denied, and emotional distress you suffered.

Call (833) 729-5529 if you think your credit history was reported incorrectly or incompletely.
