About Ray
Your Consumer Protection Lawyer
Ray is the founder of Ray Kim Law. He received a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000 and a J.D. from the University of California, Davis in 2007. Between undergrad and law school, Ray was a technology analyst with Accenture and served as a corps member and teacher through Teach for America to address educational inequity in South Louisiana.
Following law school Ray was trained as a litigator at two of the world’s largest and most esteemed law firms, Reed Smith LLP and Holland & Knight LLP, where he excelled and rose up the ranks. His litigation practice focused on consumer protection, with a strong emphasis on class actions. Ray has developed a deep and extensive reservoir of knowledge on the laws that affect consumers every day, including state laws such as the:
- Consumers Legal Remedies Act (CLRA),
- Unfair Competition Law (UCL),
- False Advertising Law (FAL),
- Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies act (CCRAA),
- California Identity Theft Act (CITA),

Ray has obtained court rulings that have had a broad impact on legal interpretations involving consumer lending, credit reporting, and even the First Amendment.
Ray has litigated in jurisdictions across the United States, including California, Florida, Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, New York, South Dakota, and Washington, and his representation spans multiple consumer-facing industries, including traditional financial institutions, financial technology (FinTech), automobile finance, mortgage lenders and servicers, education, retail, restaurants, and cannabis.
